Wow. Real hope! Good luck!
The words "Do you know who I am?" Should be totally stricken from any elected officials vocabulary.
One point of contention: Pima County residents have not voted for and/or endorsed many millions of dollars in the current county debt. Non-voter authorized bonds called COPS, or Certificates of Participation, are approved by the Board of Supervisors without any input from the taxpayers.
One may support or oppose debt financing, be appalled or apathetic about a billion dollar plus debt, but the fact is that much of the bond debt has never been approved by Pima County residents.
There is always Grand Canyon University to get ripped off by...
Here is a job for a student of jounalism: compare the amount of space and attention this story has been given regarding a stupid move by a 19 year old novice who has embarrassed his boss vs the multi-year long fight for public records regarding the attempted give away of El Rio Golf Course and the refusal of the City to provide public documents on the proposed deal. The first story, covered extensively, is an attack on a disliked conservative politician, the other is a cover up of a (now failed) effort to give away millions of taxpayer assets by "liberal" Democrats, which has been virtually ignored. Miller was wrong, but so was the entire Mayor and Council. Miller is an easy attack. The other requires journalistic integrity.
First, let us ban the English from Ireland... (I am joking folks)...
If only the media was as outraged over the years long refusal of the City of Tucson to fully provide public documents regarding the proposed sale of the El Rio Golf Course. Of course, that deal would have given away millions of dollars of taxpayer assets, while this story is about the hated Ally Miller who dares to question King Chuckles. I am no Miller fan, and she deserves to be skewered, but the hypocracy of the Weakly and the Star is breathtaking. The stupidity of a 19 year old vs institutional corruption, and one is treated as all important while the latter is virtually ignored. Maybe Miller should change her name to Clinton...
