Bloodrayne

Recycled Renaissance festival costumes, bad wigs and excessive blood splatter make this vampire film comical. The convoluted, second-rate Queen of the Damned/Indiana Jones plot in 18th-century Romania makes it absurd. Kristanna Loken stars as Rayne, a vampire/human hybrid with a pre-pregnancy Britney Spears midriff who searches for the magical Talisman organs so that her father, Ben Kingsley’s villainous vampire with powdery-white skin, doesn’t use them for evil. Meanwhile, a trio of vampire slayers helps Loken’s character escape vampire orgies and contributes to the amount of blood that sprays everything within a 50-foot radius. Even though BloodRayne is scarce on vampire film clichés, and director Uwe Boll desperately reaches for originality, he fails and delivers a ridiculous waste of time instead.
