Biker Boyz

Writer/Director Reggie Rock Bythewood’s testosterone-filled mock music video of leather-clad macho men racing on crotch rockets is all revved up with no place to go. The fast-rising star, Derek Luke, plays a confused comeback kid motorcycle drag racing at 200 mph six months after the motorcycle-accident death of his father. Despite his mother’s resistance, the defiant and unemployed teenager becomes leader of the motley crew Biker Boyz gang, challenging anyone to $5,000 jackpot prizes so audience members can be underwhelmed by the anticlimactic road rage races. In between these meaningless exercises in action moviemaking, underdeveloped characters talk their mouthful of street lingo which serves no purpose except for cluttering the screen with their "burn rubber, not your soul" mentality with a feeble attempt at creating a story line. The general premise of this potentially intriguing motorcycle subculture was taken from a Los Angeles Times article, but gets stuck in the mud in this flawed film adaptation.
