While some publications have lately suggested that Gabby Giffords is becoming a Mean Girl, we think her courage and strength continue to serve as an inspiration. No one would have blamed Gabby if she had quietly retired, but in the wake of the Sandy Hook massacre, she and her husband, Mark Kelly, have dedicated themselves to the cause of combating gun violence. It's bound to be a long, hard fight to bring some sanity to our lax gun laws, but Gabby is in it for the long haul and we wish her the best of luck in persuading Congress that it's past time to strengthen background checks and find ways to keep guns out of the hands of people who have no business owning them.
