Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum

Some folks enjoy a circus because they can see a multitude of animals and not be afraid they will be eaten. A better way to safely interact with all the hungry animals, reptiles, spiders and plants of our desert with prickly attitudes is to drive over Gates Pass to the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. It's hard to imagine how vast their collection is, but you must trust us about this: Everything is there. From June through September, there cannot be a more pleasant evening for tourists than their Saturday summer evening followed by dinner at the excellent Ocotillo Fine Dining. Along the wheelchair accessible trails, knowledgeable docents set up their sideshows of raptors, snakes and meteorites for visitors in the cool of the evening.
