"Let's Hear It for the Boy!" Alejandro's Tortilla Factory has been a local family-owned business for 25 years, featuring humbly made corn and flour tortillas. This is simple, straightforward Mexican soul food, made using a minimum number of ingredients. The fresh, flavorful corn tortillas are nicely textured with a slight tartness. The flour versions are mellow, chewy and only lightly scorched. Sizes and thicknesses for a wide variety of purposes are available. The South 12th Avenue grocery location—including the "factory" and a carniceria—also offers other baked goods such as pan de huevos; there's even a great selection of colorful piñatas hanging from the ceiling. Kitchen utensils, including tortilla presses, are also in stock, but with this quality and selection, why bother?
