The fare at the Gaslight Theatre is not Shakespeare or Tennessee Williams, and it doesn't pretend to be. So, any theater snobs out there: Buck up; give it a try; and be prepared to laugh. The productions at this eastside playhouse have little to do with the Pinter pause or Greek tragedy; it really is all about fun. The group takes old themes and recycles them into musical melodramas that require audience participation; those boos and cheers for villains and heroes come naturally. An evening can become a dinner-theater event, of sorts, with pizza offerings from next door at Grandma Tony's (or there's also a really good Chinese buffet in the same shopping center).
