Best South Tucson Mexican

Mi Nidito

Tucson is deeply proud of the restaurant known simply as Mi Nidito, or less accurately, Mi Nidito's. This classic family-owned Sonoran-style place is the real deal. There's often a wait (get a cerveza); the decorations are classic Mexican restaurant kitsch--a carne seca quesadilla just tastes better under plastic roses and twinkling lights--and the waitresses are middle-aged and in a big hurry. And, oh yeah, Bill Clinton ate here. The crowd, the hurry, the former president--it's all the way it is because the food is very good. Actually, the food is the best, and people are always waiting for it. So stand in line, drink your beer and be patient. And come hungry, because finally, you're in the right place.
