Reid Park

The 131-acre Gene C. Reid Park has four playgrounds scattered around this green oasis. Though you'll see the park occasionally littered with the torn dust-covers of Harry Potter books, there are no clowns, children behaving badly, bearded ladies or Catholic priests hanging out here. And it's a great location to keep the little monsters happy if they get bored with the monkey bars, because there are other things to do. The location not only includes a two-acre duck pond for sitting in the shade among feathered friends; there is also the 17-acre Reid Park Zoo that offers such kids programs as Summer Zoo Camp and an annual Halloween event.
