One of the best reasons to take visitors to the museum is the drive—best to go west on Speedway and over Gates Pass. The views of the saguaro-covered hills are jaw-dropping, especially for cactus newbies. Once at the museum, they start to understand why we're so crazy about our Sonoran Desert. And that is what's so perfect about the museum for us, too—just when you think you're used to seeing saguaros every few feet, a roadrunner crossing the street, a javelina down the alleyway and your friend's millionth photo of a bobcat—the museum makes us feel lucky to call this beautiful place home.
