They say art is supposed to imitate life, but in Jade Beall's photos, of Syrian and Afghan refugees, of Standing Rock protestors, of mothers breastfeeding, and of un-airbrushed bodies that are lush in their wrinkles and rich array of colors, art and life are one and the same. The photographer and mother is based in Tucson, and is widely known for her "A Beautiful Body Project," which gives women a platform to speak out about their bodies, their struggles and their stories.
