STAFF PICK: Though old-timers may recall the Mosaic Café as the somewhat rustic, Bohemian bistro formerly at Grant and Silverbell roads, their "new" location further west and north (and boy, can you surprise friends when you offer to take them to breakfast and then turn into the McDonald's parking lot that eclipses the Mosaic) is the place for one of the classiest breakfasts in town. The specialty here is an Oaxacan menu featuring the huevos divorceados plate, or "divorced eggs" for the challenged gringo. This mouthwatering meal consists of two fried eggs, one slathered in green chile and the other in red, both nearly awash in a plate of delicious black beans accompanied, of course, by a bottomless basket of freshly made tortillas. Unlike most divorces, this one is easy on the budget, the palate, and leaves you craving another.
