Tucson Festival of Books

Tucson is a literary town, and it took this new festival to finally prove it—and thank the Book Gods it succeeded. Local writers shined at the festival, as did local publishers, especially the UA Press. But organizers paid particular attention to young readers, with activities and readings from authors of juvenile and children's fiction, as well as local writers focused on regional topics. Many major cities have a book festival, so it was a pleasure to see Tucson join these ranks and commit to bringing it back again next year. The best image at the festival: watching kids lug their signed books next to Mom or Dad—also lugging a stack to the car for the drive home.
