Tucson's birthday is recognized by many as Aug. 20, but the city celebrates during the entire month of August. This year's celebration honored the life of longtime business owner and Tucson icon Cele Peterson, who founded the Tucson birthday celebration. She passed away earlier this year. While there is literally something for everyone, traditions bring it all home toward the end of the month, when birthday cake is dished out at Hotel Congress, and the Flashlight Parade starts at the foot of "A" Mountain. This is an event that helps us celebrate what it means to be Tucsonans. Viva Tucson!
