Prior to its May opening, the buzz surrounding Proper was deafening, and these wings were seemingly half of the reason why. Lightly breaded, fried, coated in a ginger-based spicy sweet-and-sour sauce and topped with a sprinkling of sesame seeds, these wings more than hold their own against the other strong items on Proper's "bites" menu, including the pork belly sliders and the curried lamb stew (which may well deserve a "Best of" mention of its own at some point in the future). The one qualm is that the Prop-Prop Wings are, admittedly, a "loving homage" to Portland's Pok Pok restaurant—but the wings are so tasty that, ultimately, you'll be too busy enjoying them to care.
