Ballet Tucson's Nutcracker

The longest-running Nutcracker in town, Ballet Tucson's is Tucson's best. Sumptuously staged at the UA's Centennial Hall, this elegant traditional rendering has painted Victorian backdrops and falling snow. Glistening guest artists this year came from the highest ranks of the ballet world. John Gardner, a former principal at American Ballet Theater and a dancer with Mikhail Baryshnikov's White Oak Dance Project, danced the Cavalier. And ABT principal dancer Amanda McKerrow took the part of the Sugar Plum Fairy. Along with the well-trained student dancers hailing from Ballet Arts studio, these dancers conjured up a magical Christmas confection.
