STAFF PICK: Golden Pin Lanes, 1010 W. Miracle Mile. Bowling at this address is reason enough. This is the home of Tucson's best, including Pro Bowling Hall of Famer Pete Tountas. Pleasant and professional staff, good food from Jimmy Karabelas and knock-out graphics on lane monitors make this a fun escape. Plenty of other promotions keep it interesting throughout the year. A note: This is a serious venue for league and tourney play. People here like their bowling. They don't stop to notice visitors, even engaging politicians. We remember Golden Pin as a campaign stop for the late George Borozan, when the golden-voiced, acid-tongued former newscaster made his serious run for mayor in 1991. George and his daughter, Beth, suited up for some Advil frames. Hey, hats off to George, a Republican who narrowly lost to George Miller that year. Miller, a Democrat, would never have mixed with peasant bowlers.
