Re: “The Smoking Gun

Reading all these comments, I get the feeling that there are a LOT of people who spend a WHOLE LOT OF TIME thinking about guns. Hmm.

Re: “Policies Worth Pondering

Lupita,

You're flat wrong to say that TNR does not work. I don't know how else to put it.

The more correct statement is that euthanizing does not work to reduce feral cat populations. Decades of the same old policies in Tucson make that obvious. PACC has been killing feral cats for years, and every year there are more feral cats.

When feral cat populations are fixed, their numbers over time go down. When euthanizations are the game-plan, the populations either stabilize or grow to fill in the gab. This is fundamental biology and basic common-sense.

There's a philosophical question, too. Is it better to kill animals than to let them remain as ferals? Many ferals where I live are routinely fed by people, and some do receive medical treatment. I'm sure they'd much rather be alive than dead. Much the same as people.

Re: “Development Dilemma

That's rich coming from Chuck J., who has sat on more than one neighborhood board in Tucson. It also says a lot about those who are doing their best to turn a buck on downtown revival, neighborhoods be damned.

Re: “Not-So-Safe Seat

Yeah, magnacarta, I'm sure it's all because of Grijalva, and has nothing to do with SB 1070 or a Governor who scares the crap out of people talking about fictional headless bodies in the desert, or Russell Pearce, who put a target on the backs of anybody in Arizona with a brown skin.
Get real, hombre. Put the blame where it belongs.

Horquilla:

You sound like an insider. Which one of them do you work for?

Re: “Digging Delays

Horquilla,

Sorry, you're right. Chris Jones has nothing to do with Arizona Copper.

Meant to say Wildcat Silver. Whose board chairman, Richard W. Warke,
"has more than 22 years experience in corporate finance, administration and marketing in the resource sector. He is the founder of Augusta Resource Corporation and has been involved in raising several hundred million in equity for resource companies." That's from Wildcat's website. Chris Jones is CEO. According to an article I read in the Tucson Weekly, Wildcat has the same address with Augusta in Canada.

As you're saying, Wildcat hopes to dig a mine in the mountains by Patagonia. I hear it will be bigger than Rosemont.
