It's a bad-news, good-news, more-good-news sort of week.
Let's dispense with the bad news first: At the close of the week, Adam Borowitz will be leaving the job of City Week listings coordinator. Don't feel bad for him; he's embarking on an exciting new career. Instead, feel bad for us, because we're losing one hell of a City Week listings dude. Over the 2 1/2 years that he's been part of our team, our calendar has been more accurate and as comprehensive as ever. He's also elevated our listings to a new, deeper-into-the-future level by taking on the extra responsibilities of compiling calendars for some of our special issues—like next week's Spring Arts Preview.
Now, on to the good news: We've found someone pretty amazing to fill the job. Linda Ray, a Tucson Weekly contributor for more than a decade—and the self-proclaimed oldest working female rock critic in America—is our new City Week listings coordinator (or, as she wants to be called, our new "calendar girl"). She's already on the job, and our listings won't miss a beat.
More good news: Adam is going to stay on as our Noshing Around columnist and online food writer, a gig he's had now for more than two years. He's even recently started a new series on The Range, the Tucson Weekly's daily dispatch: The Food Truck Diaries, which spotlights the various mobile food eateries around Southern Arizona.
In other words, Weekly readers will get to continue enjoying the work of Linda and Adam, just with slight modifications. So, in a way, the news is all good.
