You might have become familiar with Swedish singer-songwriter José González earlier this year when he joined forces with the Old Pueblo's own Calexico on a two-part music video series for "Falling From the Sky." In the video, González lovingly cares for some sort of weird giant wriggling worm thing with one creepy eye, some hair and a mouth hole. In González's follow-up video for "Open Book," he continues to bathe, hang out with and otherwise care for that same gross jiggly worm. Don't worry if monstrous Annelida aren't exactly your thing. González's real draw is his smooth folksy voice, which harkens back to another time. His finger-plucked guitar melodies on his newest release, Vestiges & Claws, dance under those vocals, forming the kind of sounds that makes you want to cozy up with a nice cup of coffee and wear a big sweater while contemplating the mysteries of life—and hopefully not think about that worm thing ever again.
González is coming to Tucson on Tuesday, Oct. 18 at the Rialto Theatre (318 E. Congress St.). The show kicks off at 8 p.m. with Riothorse Royale and doors are at 7 p.m. Tickets for this all ages concert are $22.
