Although XIXA (formerly known as Chicha Dust) has been playing around town and around the world for a while, the band is now getting ready to put out their first LP on Barbes Records next year. However, you don't have to wait it out before getting your hands on some XIXA jams. On Saturday, Nov. 14, XIXA will be releasing their EP Shift and Shadow on vinyl at Wooden Tooth Records (415 N. Fourth Ave.). Heavily influenced by the groovy, psychedelic take on cumbia that was popular in Peru and other parts of South America in the '70s, XIXA carves out a niche in the genre, while resurrecting classics.
The 150-cap concert and vinyl release is $15, which includes entry to the show and your choice of either a limited first pressing copy of the new vinyl EP or a XIXA T-shirt. The show begins at 7 p.m. with Crystal Radio. It is an all ages event with bar available for the 21+ crowd.
