B-Sides: Viva La Pixies

RE-DOOLITTLE

b-sides_pixies-doolittle.jpg

The Flycatcher (340 E. Sixth St.) has hosted so many cover shows lately that it's almost hard to keep up. With events showcasing the music of The Beatles, Madonna, David Bowie and more, local musicians have been able to reinterpret the big shots live for a captive audience time and time again. Though not expressly of that series of shows, The Flycatcher is presenting another night of covers—though this one is a little different. Rather than having several groups divvy up the works of on performer, Viva La Pixies will be performing the Pixies' entire Doolittle album from start to finish on Friday, Feb. 5.

Ghostal and ...music video? will be opening the show, which kicks off at 9 p.m. The concert is free and it is a 21 and over event.

  • Battle Acts: Sgt. Pepper Then vs. Sgt. Pepper Now

We have no Summer of Love to ponder, no Vietnam War to protest, no miracle drug that's going to save us. But we do have an unpopular president and Sgt. Pepper to marvel over all over again. It's not the same, but it kinda is, and that's about the best splendid time that can be guaranteed for all in 2017.
