HEARTBREAK BEAT

Legendary English rock band the Psychedelic Furs are playing the Rialto Theatre (318 E. Congress St.) on Wednesday, July 13—yes, you read that right. The Psychedelic Furs, complete with the original founding members and brothers Richard and Tim Butler, will be here in town to present all the jams you know and love from Forever Now, Talk Talk Talk and more. With the chill, synthy rock songs (such as "Love My Way," "Ghost in You" and "Pretty in Pink," to name a few), you can relive some of the alternative rock genre's roots straight from the folks who were there at the start of things.

Doors for the show open at 7 p.m. with music starting at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $30 in advance through the Rialto Theatre box office and website or $33 at the door the day of the show.

We have no Summer of Love to ponder, no Vietnam War to protest, no miracle drug that's going to save us. But we do have an unpopular president and Sgt. Pepper to marvel over all over again. It's not the same, but it kinda is, and that's about the best splendid time that can be guaranteed for all in 2017.
