B-Sides: SLAPZ!

OH, SLAP!

You won't want to miss what happens when the worlds of hip hop and comedy collide at SLAPZ!. Dubbed the "Big Bang Cypher," this first-time showcase will first present each performer one at a time for individual sets, followed by a massive battle that will pit teams of comedians and rappers against each other at random. After all, improv comedy and freestyle rapping aren't so vastly different when it all comes down to it (though comedy podcast fans know prompting comedians to freestyle can sometimes get messy).

You can catch it all on Tuesday, Jan. 5 at the Scratch Shack (245 W. Speedway Blvd.). The comedy bill for the evening includes Monte Benjaim, Alex Kack, Ryan Malco and Ali Musa with music performances from Shaun Harris, Roch, Bandit and Ynot. The SLAPZ! show begins at 8 p.m. and there is a $5 cover.
