B-Sides: Psych Out

AIR WAVES

If you have yet to tune into Downtown Radio on 99.1 FM, you're truly missing out on some of the most diverse, unique and exciting programming on Tucson's air waves right now. It seems DJs are allowed pretty much free rein over their time slots, resulting in an oft random, almost always interesting mixed bag of genres and moods. Like the city it serves, the station is a sundry of lovable oddities, influenced by the whims of those at the helm. That's why you should break out your wallets on Saturday, April 9 and head to the station's benefit show at The Screening Room (127 E. Congress St.).

Dubbed the "Psych Out," the fundraising concert, which starts at 8 p.m., will feature local neo-psych acts Crystal Radio, Mute Swan, Cobra Family Picnic, Wet Marble and Trees Speak. Music isn't all that's on the bill, though, as the theatre space will offer accompanying projected visuals. Entry is $6 with all proceeds going to Downtown Radio.
