Live music nerds know La Cocina (201 N. Court Ave.) is the place to be on a Thursday night, thanks to the random collection of up-and-coming bands laced together under the banner of Funporium. Each week brings a new round of local and national acts, as well as a new taco special. This week, you'll find locals Connor "Catfish" Gallaher (The Myrrors) and J. Clay Koweek (Otherly Love) noodling alongside New Zealand based pianist Anthonie Tonnon, L.A.'s Pearl Charles and Austin's Julian Neel. While there's something distinctly loungey and '90s alt-rock about Tonnon, Charles offers up a twangy, earnest front to a psych rock backing.

The late night event kicks off at 10 p.m. and runs until 2 a.m. so plan to start your weekend early if you're going to this one. It's a 21 and over event and entry is free but donations will be accepted at the door to help support the touring acts.
