One of Phoenix's brightest rising stars, Numb Bats, are stopping into town to promote the release of their brand new EP Bees and Trees. The Lolipop Records release is a bit of a departure from the pop-psych tendencies that were ever-present on their first release Gentle Horror in that you'll find more instrumental moments, less hooks and less of those sweet three part harmonies that embellished the band's debut. However, that doesn't make Bees and Trees any less addicting—case in point: the guitar riff on "Dog Poncho" is a dizzying, intoxicating drone that builds into a frenetic crescendo... and that's just one song.
You can see Numb Bats play their newest jams and buy a copy of the EP too when the band hits up Wooden Tooth Records (415 N. Fourth Ave.) on Saturday, July 11 with Tucson's own Acorn Bcorn and AZ77 beginning at 6 p.m. The show is free and all ages are welcome.
