Mute Swan released their first album, Feel How It Sees, earlier this year and the highly anticipated record didn't disappoint. The local four-piece is known for embellishing psych rock tendencies with experimental flourishes and a sun drenched vibe. You can catch them live at La Cocina (201 N. Court Ave.) on Thursday, Sept. 3.
The later show kicks off at 10 p.m. with two other Tucson bands—Joyriot and Hikikomori. You'll want to keep an eye on Hikikomori in particular, who, despite being relatively new, are getting quite a buzz about them. With hard-driving drums and fuzzy guitars, the band, which features Prom Body's Gilbert Flores, explores a more intense side of psychedelia—case in point, the head banging track "Psilocybin," which gets its name from the psychotropic compound found in mushrooms. With hot off the grill tacos, tasty cocktails, cold brews and more, this free show definitely won't be a bad trip.
