B-Sides: CJ Boyd

Sounds and Textures

Verse bridge chorus. Verse bridge chorus. Stop. That's not what you're going to find at Wooden Tooth Records when CJ Boyd brings his musical experimentation to the Fourth Avenue record store. Instead, open up to the possibility that music can be more than hooks and catchy phrases. Maybe it's about creating a soundscape that transports you to a place or time you've never been before. Focus. Marathon-like songs span 10 minutes centering on intricate bass lines, not quite telling a full-narrative, but definitely painting a picture and setting the scene.

You can catch Boyd at the record store, located at 415 N. Fourth Ave. on Monday, June 22 at 7 p.m. The show has a suggested donation of $5 for Boyd, who is touring and will be joined by local ambient artist Ryan Chavira and lo-fi singer-songwriter Casey Golden.
