B-Sides: Chuck Inglish

SUMMERTIME RADNESS

Mark as Favorite

Following the release of his new album with L.A.-based production duo Blended Babies, Chicago rapper Chuck Inglish (formerly half of the Cool Kids) is hitting up the Scratch Shack (245 W. Speedway Blvd.) on Friday, July 1 as part of the Sounds Like Summer tour. The new album, titled Ev Zepplin, offers an alternative perspective to hip-hop, with distorted guitar riffs, moody keys, groovy bass and strong backing beats. Some times electronic flourishes feel ripped straight from a video game, other times subtle reggae influence seems to seep in. The one constant, though, is Inglish's smooth, unrelenting flow, which only occasionally lets up to allow a crooned hook to step in.

Inglish will be joined by Alex Wiley (who collaborated on Inglish's "Over Much"), Josh Sallee, KAAN, J. Cobb and Blevery Hills, with local support from Johnny Redd, Lando Chill and Jaca Zulu. Doors are at 8 p.m. and it is a 16 and over event. Tickets will be sold the day of the show for $12 or online in advance for $10 at flywillofficial.com.
