B-sides: American Monoxide

JUST LISTEN

Dimitri Manos is one of those illusive figures in the Tucson music scene. He's a legend still interwoven into the community with past acts like Golden Boots, current projects like Crab Legs and contributions to national touring phenoms Dr. Dog. However, his solo work, called American Monoxide, offers his singular perspective. The keys can sometimes sound like someone goofing around at an Organ Stop Pizza, only shift into earnest vocals discussing "Space Creatures" and then on to sing-songy spoken word moments. It's funky and weird in the ways you want it to be because, after all, this is Tucson. All of that and more is waiting for you on the new release In Flight Mode, which serves up nine tracks in total.

Hear Manos' American Monoxide LP at Wooden Tooth Records (415 N. Fourth Ave.) on Friday, Nov. 20 at 6:30 p.m. Vinyl copies will be on sale for $15, along with a free American Monoxide screenprinting station. The listening party is free and open to all ages.
