B-Sides: Amanda X

GONE GRRRL

With their 2014 release amnesia, the Philadelphia trio known as Amanda X showed a range of moody, jammy, yet still upbeat tunes that dart from post-punk to riot grrrl and garage with droney guitars, pounding drums and wailing vocals. With three years of rocking steady under their belts, the band is headed to Club Congress (311 E. Congress St.) on Wednesday, Aug. 12.

Amanda X is joined on tour by fellow Philadelphians The Spirit of the Beehive, whose recently dropped YOU ARE ARRIVED (but you've been cheated) exudes a more mellow, lo-fi and heavily distorted sound, as well as locals AZ77 and Hikikomori for the Tucson show only. You can catch the all ages performance beginning at 7 p.m. Tickets ($5) and more information can be found in advance via www.hotelcongress.com.
