How is the construction going to change the stage setup downtown?
Due to the Fourth Avenue underpass construction, we had to relocate three outdoor stages. Two of those were moved to Fourth Avenue and Eighth Street. That will create a new conglomeration of four stages, including O'Malley's and the Hut, right off Fourth Avenue. One downtown stage was relocated to the area just west of Hotel Congress on 10th Street.
Congress Street will still have the bulk of outdoor stages and venues, including The Rialto, Hotel Congress, The District, Sharks and two new venues: Sport's on Congress and the Fifth Avenue Cabaret (formally Skrappy's). That makes for 10 stages in one fenced-off area.
Plus, don't forget that Vaudeville Cabaret is only one block west of the Congress Street enclosure.
How do I get from Fourth Avenue to Congress Street?
There are two ways to go from Fourth Avenue to Congress Street. You can take a five-minute walk down either Eighth or Seventh streets west to the Sixth Avenue underpass. Once you go through the underpass, you will be at Toole Avenue, which is 1 1/2 blocks north of Hotel Congress and the main entrance into the Club Crawl™ enclosure at Fifth Avenue.
The other option is to catch the Redline shuttle at the corner of Seventh Street and Fourth Avenue, or at the corner of Eighth Street and Fifth Avenue (the west entrance to the Eighth Street outdoor stage). The shuttle will drop riders downtown at Pennington Street and Toole Avenue, just north of the downtown Club Crawl™ main entrance. There will be three shuttles running continuously until 1 a.m.
Where can I park?
There is still ton of parking downtown--that has not been affected by the construction. There are 1,000 on-street parking-meter spaces that are free of charge after 5 p.m. There are five large parking garages, including the closest on Pennington Street. The number of parking spaces downtown is around 14,000! For more parking information, you can go to Tucson's Parkwise Web site.
