A Midsummer Night's Tease

Normally, the words "Shakespeare" and "sexy" wouldn't be found in the same sentence. But local burlesque troupe Don't Blink Burlesque made it happen. They describe their upcoming take on the Bard of Avon's play A Midsummer Night's Dream as "The Sexy Story Shakespeare Meant to Tell." They also claim "your favorite performers will tease you in the sexiest iambic pentameter you've ever experienced."

Shakespeare's play has a blend of comedy, romance and fantasy. Young lovers, fairies in the forest and "love juice" figure prominently. We won't give away everything, but it appears that Shakespeare had the idea of a dream sequence long before Bob Newhart woke up next to Suzanne Pleshette. Don't Blink Burlesque will blend their beautiful costumes, choreography and theatrics with Shakespeare's creativity.

A Midsummer Night's Tease takes place at 9 p.m., Saturday, June 21, at Cabaret Theatre at the Temple of Music and Arts, 330 S. Scott Ave. Tickets are $20, or $30 for VIP and $50 for Literary Lovers VIP. VIP seats include seating in the first three rows and a glass(es) of champagne. Complementary sweet treats will be available for all ticket holders. Get tickets at http://midsummertease.bpt.me. For more information, visit dontblinkburlesque.com.
