Re: “Bolder

The MERIT system for teachers was a controlling aspect put into effect by the Republicans during George W. Bush's administration so they could undermine and weaken the teachers union, one of the biggest in the nation. "No Child Left Behind "was the dubious title making it seem like the fox in the hen house was there to tidy up the droppings and feathers. Republicans are the most deceitful and cunning manipulators on this planet and if you ever think they are doing something for your benefit you had better look more closely because they have found a back door way to cut your throat. Teachers pay increases have always been back-burner issues for Republicans until it becomes the elephant in the room and they have to do something to make it look like their are doing something. I would love to see every teacher in this country take up the banner for pay increases to put politicians on full alert that they are mad as hell and they are not going to take this anymore.

Re: “Want More Money For Schools? Get Rid of Prop 108

Republicans are always screaming "no new taxes"which is absolutely absurd thinking. Prices continue to increase, everything continues to depreciate, erode, age, and break down which all require more money to replace or repair. The brain of most Republicans is so fixated and intransigent that to get them to even change their thinking one iota would be monumental. Many of them still subscribe to the "trickle-down-economic" theory which has been proven to be delusional and unworkable because it benefits the the rich at the top and never reaches the masses at the bottom. NO, Arizonans, you don't need to get rid of prop 108 you need to get rid of the Republicans in government. The perfect example of a state that would have had less damage from a nuclear bomb than what the Republicans did to it is KANSAS. A Republican controlled state legislature and governor's office who presented their "perfect example" of Republican policies by reducing or eliminating taxes lower than any state had ever done or ever will do again. Now their funding for every function that depends on taxes is threatened and the giant Republican turd-brain ex-governor ,Sam Brownback, is in Donald Trump's government as an ambassador for some new B.S. assignment that Trump pulled out of his rectum . However, to paraphrase Shakespeare," Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow, creeps in this petty pace from day to day. And each player struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then is heard no more." This too shall pass.

Re: “The Red and the Black

In order to have the things that a society needs the money has to come from TAXES. Every Republican in politics has signed a pledge to Grover Norquist that they will not raise TAXES under any circumstances. Trump's major legislation since his coronation has been signing the bill to reduce taxes,( Millionaires save a fortune while minimum wagers save a dollar a week.) Republicans consider tax reduction a major win for their party but the true impact of it wont be felt for awhile. When the U.S. Treasury is scraping the bottom of the barrel to pay the nations due bills you can look for MAJOR cuts to Social Security, Medicare , and Medicaid. If you are looking for high paying jobs from INFRASTRUCTURE REBUILDING you can kiss those occupations goodbye because the TAX CUTS are not leaving any money for rebuilding anything. The first time in history that the United States became a debtor nation was under Ronald Reagan and we will remain a debtor nation. President William Clinton left 8 BILLION DOLLARS in the Treasury when he left office but as soon as George W. Bush stole the White House that money disappeared like an ice cube in hell. If you think that Republicans are the party of fiscal responsibility then you have your head so far up your derriere that you are looking both ways for Sunday.

Re: “Is Education the Best Message For Democrats To Boost Voter Turnout?

Education is just one of the MANY platforms to ignite Democrats to vote. Republicans have been trying to destroy Social Security, Medicare , and Medicaid since their inceptions. Tell the elderly that their Social Security and Medicare are about to be eliminated and you MIGHT get their attention. As far as education is concerned , FACTUAL STATISTICS, reveal that there are very few Republicans teaching in colleges and universities. They don't have the brains nor the desire to learn anything else because they think they know it all. Workplace safety and higher minimum wages are not in the Republican vocabulary. Donald Trump is the epitome of a Republican. Doesn't read anything and thinks his opinion is more valid than scientific fact, Doesn't care if anybody gets anything as long as he gets his share, has the attention span of a gnat, has the scientific knowledge of an empty bucket, and thinks anything is fair in an election as long as he wins. If Democrats don't get out and vote our elections are going to become so corrupted by Republicans that we wont have a vote in the future.

Re: “Interior Department Boss Visits Border Wall

Amazing that the Republicans in congress didn't notice the 8 MILLION undocumented workers that crossed the border from Mexico during the George W. Bush administrations 8 years in office. Now that the crossings have dropped down to a trickle the Trump administration wants to build a 1.5 BILLION DOLLAR WALL that will over time cost tax payers 20 BILLION. There will be no-bid contracts that go to Trump's cronies who can slip him a billion or two thru his off-shore bank accounts. If you think this wall is just to keep Mexicans and South Americans out of the country you only have half of the reason correct. Trump doesn't do ANYTHING unless there's money in it for him and his empire.

Re: “Diane Douglas: Let Teachers Carry Guns

If the teachers in Arizona have to carry guns in their classrooms will they get extra pay for being security guards as well as teachers putting them on par or higher pay than the rest of the nation. If you present the argument in these terms the Republican conservative NRA advocates will reconsider their stance because Republicans in general are too damn cheap to pay workers for their actual contributions regardless of how valuable they are. And you can quote me on that!
