i too am sick of bates-anna could do way better. and you're dead on about lady mary:mean as a snake and fairly unattractive ( very flat in the bust,which would have been seen especially at that time as a major body flaw) to boot. edith is not only better looking but basically kind,which is so much more important in a mate. let mary and mathew irritate each other to death-its what they're best at.
