I wish they would stop calling it "Downtown Links." This project does not link anything in downtown. It severs our city in two. Ten years from now we will be wondering what on earth anyone was thinking. It is such a demonstrably horrible project that you almost cannot find anyone who supports it. The most you hear in its favor is, "well, we voted for it so now it has to happen even though everyone knows it's stupid."
Erik Ryberg here. I want to make sure no one misunderstands that last comment of mine in the article. It's an accurate quote by the writer, but I don't want anyone to think I prefer drunk vehicle-driving to drunk bike-riding. I don't - I'd rather you hurt yourself on your bike than kill me or someone else in your car. But the best option by far is to take a cab.
