I should note that my original comment to the People in Power noted that, for deficit reduction purposes, Social Security--a separate trust fund currently running a surplus--was not budgetarily rrelevant, though for space purposes I neglected to make that clear.
The current proposal from the O-man might make the Social Security shortfall come earlier than 2037, but it's absurd to pretend that gutting Social Security benefits should be a priority, and to the extent that editing change implied any such acquiescence with that travesty on my part, it should be ignored.
