Re: “The King

It's not Shakespeare for sure, something of a muddle. The best parts were Robert Pattinson's role as the Dauphin. One reviewer described his hilarious French accent as the best thing thing since Pepe Le Pew..

Re: “Danehy

I moved to Tucson in 1978 and had the opportunity to see the Tucson Community Center and La Placita Village when they were still nearly new. There were some shops and restaurants at the La Placita Village, as well as brown-bag lunch outlets for the downtown workers to enjoy their lunches.

It was really a very attractive place with nice architecture and water features in the courtyard area. I remember once seeing a fashion photographer using the fountain area to photograph a model. I also have seen a number of performances at the Tucson Music Hall, including "Cats" and Richard Einhorn's "Voices of Light".

Too bad the La Placita Village is being demo'd and replaced by the typical architecturally uninteresting monstrosity by the Humberto Lopez firm. It will have no sense of place, and will have "market-rate" apartments (aka over-priced apartments for the rich).

What a loss.

Re: “Danehy

I joined the Army in 1963, following in the footsteps of another friend from the year before. Like him, I chose my specialty in the Army Security Agency. After 8 weeks basic training at Fort Ord, California I went ahead to my next assignment and a 26-week class at Fort Devens, Massachusetts at Cryptanalysis school.

From there to a special operations class at the National Security Agency in Maryland for one month and subsequent assignment to a duty station (Tuslog Det4) for a year in Sinop, Turkey.

After that I was assigned for a two-year duty in Japan at a station (Hakata Administration Annex) in the southern island of Kyushu. I was out of the Army in 1967 and was never deployed to Vietnam.

Although I'm a Vietnam-Era Veteran, I have absolutely no regrets that I was never stationed in Vietnam.

@Rick Spanier; heliotaxis. So, where or where do you get your connection for high-speed internet? I cut my cable channel years ago, but I'm still tied to Comcast (aka Xfiniti) for my high-speed internet. It's hard to escape the corporate masters here in Tucson....

Re: “Afternoon Cartoon: Pick Your Epidemic

@Charlie McDonald - Thanks for that information. It definitely shows that Attorney General Barr's position that he can't release the entire Mueller report to the Congress due to the confidentially of the Grand Jury investigations stands on very shaky legal ground!

Re: “Arizona Women’s Basketball Heads to WNIT Finals After 59-53 Win Over TCU

Glad to see the UofA Women's basketball program finally getting some recognition! I've attended games in the past with my daughter and her maternal grandmother. There were hardly any people in the stands during the games at that time.

Re: “Pima County Road Bonds Failing in Early Returns While Park Bonds Are Headed To Passage

Fortunately, led by stalwart Pima County Supervisor Ally Miller, the forces against passage of the Pima County road bonds have succeeded! Now, all those who voted against the road bonds will quit bellyaching about the condition of the roads in Pima County, and will instead organize giant cookie sales to pay for road construction and maintenance!

Look for it!
