It's time for Homeland Security to stop its brutal policy of "Deterrence" by Death, which has resulted in the deaths of well over 5,000 innocent people whose only crime was to try to provide for their families after NAFTA destroyed their jobs. It's time for the US government to start granting visas to people whose families are starving to death due to US neoliberal trade policies. Right now the only people in the rest of the Americas who are granted legal entry into the US are those who can prove that they have at least $10,000 in the bank, own property, have a permanent job and have children, grandchildren or elderly parents living back home who are dependent on them for their care. Only the top 2 percent of Mexicans and other Latin Americans are in that economic class.
