Re: “UA Stevie Eller Dance Theatre

Went to last night's performance of Positions of Power. First, having over the years been to dance in NYC, Jacob's Pillow, LA, and San Francisco and having been terribly disappointed by what we had seen in Phoenix when we moved there in 2002, we didn't expect much from dance in Tucson. Still, we had to give Artifact a change. Right? Absolutely right. Just terrific. Musically it was a delight. The choreography was powerful especially A Painted Devil. And the dancing was quite good, in a few cases outstanding. Thank you, ADP for giving us dance that we could truly enjoy.

Re: “Claytoon of the Day: A Rising Threat

A really horrifying picture of the future comes to mind, one in which there are armed guards at every mosque, church, temple, school, office, etc. Tombstone may not be just the past but also our future. For my part, it isn't OK.

Re: “Claytoon of the Day: Diary Of A Wimpy President

Of course, the two perpetrators in the Houston attack have not been identified as Undocumented or even aliens. Gosh, I guess reality isn't relevant when prejudice is in play.

I think use of Whimpy would have been more appropriate after his hamburger meal for the athletes. I don't know that we're done with the wall madness.

Re: “A Matter of Conviction

Much as I respect and share the idea of humanitarian aid and much as I, too, want to help these wanderers in our desert, I have to agree with the courts. We need to care for our public lands and that is why we have regulations about entering them. Also, civil disobedience is meaningless if there are no consequences. What makes me angry is that while these four good people were found guilty for trying to help others, the gang of thugs who took over a federal facility a few years back all got off. They only want to ruin our federal lands by overgrazing and to deny the worth of government. I guess in the end, we see in these two cases a worrying trend in our legal system, a trend towards greed. Just one more reason we need a new approach to politics and a new party in America.

Re: “Ice Melt Slows Global Warming But Speeds Sea Level Rise

Anybody who ever studied physics knew this. If you heat a glass of water in which there are ice cubes, the temperature stays at 32 (0 C) until all the ice is melted. Then it starts getting warmer. Not only are we melting the ice but we are also using the absorbed energy to expand the mantle of the planet. The term global-warming was always a distraction. The real problem is net-energy absorption.

Re: “Claytoon of the Day: Counting Isn't Cheating

It's cheating to those who can't count and there is no reason to believe he can.

Re: “Hell Yes on Prop 463!

Yes we need the roads repaired and maintained. BUT, we need transparency and a good plan with clear projects and sequencing. To just dump money into a swamp usually means just more gators.
