Bisbee Boy you need to look at the history of mining in Arizona if you think we want those jobs here. The copper mines in Morenci and San Manuel are closed because the price of copper dropped so low they were no longer profitable. Asarco had a love/hate relationship with miners for the past 40 years until it finally filed for bankruptcy. Now you have a job - now you don't over and over again based on the current price of copper. Mines have put local folks in the unemployment line more consistently than any other industry in Pima County. 400 sometime jobs in not worth risking our water supply and chewing up our already overburdened county budget to provide infrastructure for a mine that will leave a big hole in the ground and ship their product and profit off shore.
Double ick. LIke a grade D movie. (B is not low enough.)
Sounds like she will be happier in Maricopa where they only have headless bodies and no nasty sheriffs.
I think the key words in this article are "voter passed initiative". Aside from the handling and distribution of the funds, how can the AZ state legislature overturn a decision of the voters? If the process needs fixing - they need to address that, but we can not allow them to ride roughshod over the voters of this state. Arizonans, stand up!
Do these people know they are lying or are they just so desparate to win that they actually believe what they are saying? I don't think lying is personally owned by one political party but the Republicans seem to be a lot more adept at it. Voters should look deeply into the claim of any candidate (especially if it is a smear) or they deserve what they get. Unfortunately the rest of us get it with them.
Arts, education and job securement assistance. Get rid of it all. That will certainly make Tucson a more desirable, safer place to live.
