Re: “Ducey Promises More Ed Funding, Highway Work in State of the State Address

Did Mr. Ducey shake the hands of the Red4Ed supporters at the Legislature's opening day or.........did he go to his base of white supremacists with his outstretched hand?

AZ Dept of Corrections, Rehabilitation, and Reentry? Only if you change the department and legislature mindset and make changes to the law and the Puritanical leaders who spout their eye-for-an-eye attitude an all things penal.

Re: “Tucson 'Climate Strike' planned in El Presidio Park

bslap: your comments seem to show how little you know. Indigenous peoples are caretakers of the environment. They have been aware of the changes, both good and bad, when food is plentiful and when it is not and how not to destroy balances that keep the earth healthy. Environmental justice is adjudicating disputes between those who wish to make money from the land which causes damage to the water, air and soil that all of life depends upon. (Uranium mining on the Navajo Reservation and copper mining in the Santa Ritas).
Solar energy is working on storage batteries so that we have power 24/7. Some humans are using their brains to find solutions to problems that are new and that we have created over many years. They use their minds more than they use their mouths. That is why the rest of us would do better to educate ourselves, stop using ground water for grass, save the limited rainwater we get and not pollute by dumping our chemical wastes and instead take it to City or County Recycling sites.

Re: “Romero Wins Tucson's Mayoral Primary, Advances to General Election

Texas taxes Toasted: Thank you for allowing me to educate myself on the "governmental collapse in Finland". The story from the CNN is that the government resigned in March because it could not get its healthcare reform through Parliament. The system is one run by municipalities of from 100 to 100,000 people which is not efficient. Change is hard and the people of Finland are very happy with there excellent healthcare which has the lowest maternal mortality rates (the US is the worst of developed countries) and a longer life expectancy. Finland negotiates prices with drug companies which our capitalistic government cannot do by law. But even with problems, their government is doing better than ours.

Re: “The Star's Creative Headline Writing Team Is At It Again: Trump Edition

go2ski perhaps you are unaware of the number of House bills that have gone to the Senate where Mitch McConnell refuses to allow them to be heard. Your Civics lesson for today is that bills that are sponsored in the House must be heard in the Senate and then a Joint committee will work on what changes each chamber will agree to and then it is set for a vote by the Congress (and visa versa). Or, if you prefer to check for yourself:…

Re: “Man Arrested for Damaging, Stealing Water Tanks Left For Migrants

Francois? Nyet! If you voted in the elections and your candidate did not win, that is what an election is all about. People speak their choice at the ballot box. If your elected official does not represent you that may be because he/she speaks for all the rest who did elect them.

In today’s world, you learn to expect the unexpected. And speaking of expecting, Tucson Salvage columnist Brian Smith brings us the story of Cain Pierce, a trans man who is pregnant with his first baby. The mom, of course, is a trans woman and former local drag queen. It’s a complicated story, but as the wise man once said: Life finds a way.
