I am a retired USAF Lt. Col. I am an adjunct instructor of Spanish at Pima Community College, teaching 2 or 3 classes each semester. I really enjoy languages and, in addition to English & Spanish which I have been studying for over 50 years, I have studied Latin, French, Italian, Portuguese and Russian. I majored in Spanish at the U of A and I attended the U of A Summer School in Guadalajara, MX in 1965, living with a local family. From1981 to 1985, the USAF assigned me as an exchange officer to teach English at the Mexican Air Force Academy (Colegio del Aire) in Zapopan, a suburb of Guadalajara. From 1986 to 1989 I was the Vice Commandant and Commandant of the Interamerican Air Forces Academy where USAF and Latin American air force personnel taught aircraft manintenance to Latin American air force technicians in Spanish. After retiring in 1989 I studied for my doctorate (I'm ABD) in International Relations at the University of Miami in Coral Gables. During that time I was a Research Associate at the North-South Center where I read/scanned 25 Spanish language daily newspapers for articles for the State Department/CIA sponsored database, Info-South. Over the years I have travelled to all of the Spanish speaking countries of the Western Hemisphere except Nicaragua & Cuba. I am anxious to travel to Europe over the next several years. I brushing up on my Italian and Portuguese.
