Feb. 12, 4:40 p.m.

A man tried, quite unsuccessfully, to smuggle four bottles of booze out of a Walmart store—in his pants, a Pima County Sheriff's Department report stated.

Sheriff's deputies were called to a Walmart on the north side of town in response to a report of someone stealing liquor. Upon arrival, they found that a customer—actually another deputy who was off duty at the time—had already tackled the subject and had him in a "bear hug" hold in the middle of the floor.

Security-camera footage showed the subject putting four 750-millileter bottles of Johnny Walker scotch whisky down his pants while walking around the store, basically in plain sight. When he walked past the cash registers and tried to run away from security, the off-duty officer reportedly took him to the ground and held him there till on-duty deputies arrived.

The subject admitted to trying to steal the whisky and already had a warrant out for his arrest regarding a previous shoplifting charge. He was taken to jail.
