B-Sides: Okilly Dokilly

STUPID SEXY FLANDERS

As far as buzz bands go, Phoenix's Okilly Dokilly managed to fill a niche no one even knew existed. After their first show at the Trunk Space, this Ned Flanders-themed metal band gained some respect for their "catchy, fun and technically skillful songs" about left-handedness and feeling like you're "wearing nothing at all," according to TW contributor Troy Farah in his review for the Phoenix New Times. So yeah, a "Nedal" band dripping with Simpsons references and populated by five dudes dressed in matching Flanders attire might be gimmicky as all get out, but it sounds fun. Plus, if this show is anything like that first show, you can expect inflatable donuts and other thematically appropriate antics, ensuring a spectacle worthy of the band's viral sensationalism.

Ever on the pulse of music trends, no matter how silly in this case, this Club Congress (311 E. Congress St.) show is as free as it is noteworthy. See what the hype is about on Friday, Oct. 2. Tucson's Sugar Stains will take the stage first with the show starting at 9 p.m. It is a 21 and over event.
