B-Sides: Nick Diamonds

No Man is an Islands

Nick Diamonds (née Nick Thorburn) was a teenager when he founded the cult indie act The Unicorns, but his impact on the genre didn't stop there. Through his work with Islands, which exhibits almost manically saccharine alt-pop gems that seem culled from a seizure-inducing video game at times, to his current focus on his own solo work, he's become a pretty prolific figure in indie.

This past prodigy, current legend is heading to The Flycatcher (340 E. Sixth St.) on Friday, Sept. 4. The show starts at 9 p.m. with The Tulips opening. Tickets can be found online in advance for $12, along with more information at

www.rialtotheatre.com. It is a 21 and over event.
