If you're feeling uninspired by those typical and traditional music stylings you'll find at most concerts, why not check out Troy Rogers? The self-proclaimed semi-nomadic robot herder is all about making noise in a very unique way. You see, you might find yourself listening to Rogers and occasionally falling into a recognizable beat, but more likely you'll just be listening at a delightfully bewildering flurry of sound that isn't like anything you've heard before. Rogers' unique take on music and use of electronic instrumentation to accomplish it has earned him the opportunity to perform at several musical technology colleges such as MIT and Georgia Tech. To say the least, his pieces definitely have a dystopian and often discordant sci-fi vibe to them, but you really just have to listen to it to see what I mean.
You can explore a new musical frontier presented by Rogers and his band of robots when he hits Tucson on Thursday, May 28. The Minnesota-based performer will hit the Galactic Center stage, located at 35 E. Toole Ave., after the show kicks off at 8 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the door the day of the show for $10 and it's an all-ages event.
