Noshing Around

BETTER THAN A BUCKET OF ICE

For those that do not know, everyone is dumping buckets of ice water on their heads and posting it on the Internet, to raise awareness and money for the ALS Association. However, I have a better idea to help fight Lou Gehrig's disease, Bite Nite. Bite Nite is a foodie event to help benefit the Arizona Chapter of the ALS Association taking place on Saturday, Sept. 6 at the Westin la Paloma Resort and Spa from 6 to 10 p.m. Ten of Tucson's best chefs will be throwing down the vittles for guests, including chefs from Azul, Sullivan's Steakhouse, The Coronet, Nox Kitchen & Cocktails, Hacienda del Sol and Metzger Family Restaurants (Poppy Kitchen, Gio Taco, Jackson Tavern). It will be a great evening of fabulous food, wines, craft beers and live entertainment, as well as auctions with culinary prizes including gift cards/certificates to participating restaurants, special mystery boxes with chef tables, wine dinners and more. Doesn't that sound like more fun than soggy socks? For tickets or more information, visit bitenite.org/tucson.

RESTAURANT WEEK

Arizona Restaurant Week is a great time to get out and enjoy some local spots you have driven by but never got the chance to pop in for a bite. Starting Friday, Sept. 19 and running through Sept. 28, (yes, 10 food-filled days, rather than an actual week!) participating Southern Arizona restaurants are offering prix-fixe dinner menus for $20, $30, or $40 per person. As fall threatens to make our lives much more pleasant, it is the perfect time of year to go on an eating binge with all the great food Tucson has to offer. A full list of participating restaurants and menus will be featured on www.ArizonaRestaurantWeek.com with an easy-to-use interface for searching for a favorite local chef, type of cuisine or restaurant wish list.
