Jim Nintzel, from the courtroom, notes that Loughner is answering the judge's questions in "a quiet but firm voice" and that he says he "understands the charges and penalties."
The judge is speaking to Loughner now, recapping the incidents of January 8th, 2011, for Loughner to acknowlege that he understands what happened: "You...drew your pistol & shot her (Giffords) in the head at close range. Your intention was to kill her."
The judge has asked Loughner if he understands that the life sentences are consecutive, not concurrent; Loughner replies that he has "agreed to that." Sentencing has been set for Thursday, November 15th at 10 am.
More to come from the courthouse.
